Question #1:
What should a person do with their old Bibles?
These books were once passed down from member to member of the family. Some were given to close friends.
Others were torn up & disposed of in gardens or burned in fireplaces & BBQ's.
If the eyes are the mirror to the soul & we use our eyes to read books as we hold them with out hands, don't we leave our imprint on these books for eternity? I have several books that I have already burned in my backyard BBQ. Not because I hate the book. Because I don't want to pass any of my bad luck vibes onto another person.
Maybe this is what the Pastor Jones is attempting to do by burning these books.
I'd love to hear the various thought & ideas on what to do with used religious books.
Oh, I failed to say that I still have ONE living heir who shares my blood. I shread, bury or burn my books, paperwork & journals so that I won't attract the wrong element to my relatives doorstep. I NEVER would donate these to any charity. I keep them until I find the time to properly dispose of them. Until today, I thought everyone did this with their personal belongings.
Question #2:
What is your idea of 'being sophisticated'?
Mine is eating all-butter croissants daubed in home-made jam; quaffed down with some freshly pressed orange juice - eaten in the gardens of the Crown Plaza Hotel, London.Et toi?
Question #3:
Is it legal to snare deer in Texas?
I live in Tomball (Harris county) and i live in a "semi-suburb" neighborhood (2 acre lots ans a little bit of woods and such) and deer run rampant through our gardens and such, so i got the idea to snare one or two this season. we live too close to other people to use a rifle or shotgun, and if i were to use my bow i run the risk of it expiring in someone else's yard. basically my questions are:1. is it legal to snare deer?
2. does it have to be in-season?
3. if is IS illegal, are there any suggestions on how i can bag one of these critters?
Thanks for any input.

Question #4:

Question #5:
My Border Collie chooses to go to my husband for a fuss rather than me.....?
We've had our Border Collie for about 7 weeks and she's about 19 months old now. Since we got her I've been the one who's done daily training with her (I use clicker training) and she's learned a whole array of behaviours from recall right through to rolling over and giving me a 'high five'. I also play with her in the garden for a considerable amount of time each day, however it's my husband who walks her as I have a back injury which means I can't walk long distances or run at present - hence doing the training and the play at home suits me very well. Our dog is extremely responsive to my training and very obedient with me, she will usually follow me around and I'm the one who feeds her as well. However I've found over the last couple of weeks that if she ever wants a fuss it will be my husband that she goes to - she'll put her front paws up on his lap when he's sitting down, tail wagging and very happy to be with him - sometimes she'll even try to climb up on his lap, but she'll never do this with me! She'll happily accept a fuss from me if I instigate it but if we're both just sitting doing something it's him she'll go to for some love. Just very curious about this as I would have thought that she would tend to approach me as the person who devotes more time, activities, learning experiences to her - seems ironic!! Any ideas? I wouldn't mind a cuddle every now and again!Edit: forgot to add that ironically she generally has a fear of men and it took longer for her to warm to my husband and not shy away from him when we first got her - makes it even stranger to me that she chooses him for fuss now but I am only a novice in dog behaviour so maybe this is significant
Thank you all for your answers, it's been interesting to read what you guys think. I did wonder whether it had anything to do with the fact that a friendly and kind male was a bit of a new thing to her and so it might be triggering her to go to him more. Thank you also for the link on calming signals - I've just read this (most interesting!!) and will look out for her signals and attempt to respond appropriately. Just to clarify, I would never get angry or anything like that at the fact she is going to my husband - all I want for her is to give her a good home where she feels safe and happy so if that's what she wants then all good, just really wanted to broaden my knowledge of dog behaviour and why she might be doing it. I will ask my husband to control the situation a little more over the next few days and see what this does - reading the calming signals article made me think - she does always have her ears back when she goes to him which I read here is a signal. Thanks once again

How to make a garden for your rabbit?
I'm a rabbit owner who loves rabbits. I was considering making a fenced in area in my back yard and treating the soil, growing some vegetables for my rabbit as a little play area. I wanted to have most of the ground in the garden to be clover, a decent height fence and a wire fence just beneath it, so he can't dig out. I was just wondering...What should I have in my garden, ex.What kind of soil should I use? Can I grow some vegetables in it? Should I have a little water area? Just please give me some ideas on what I should do.Just wanted to add...I'm not going to keep him out there unsupervised. He lives indoors. I just need a little outside play area for him.
Question #8:
GETTING READY FOR ECONOMIC CRISIS! ANY MORE IDEAS?
So what can we each individually do to somewhat insulate ourselves from the economic problems that are coming?....1 - Get Out Of Debt: The old saying, "the borrower is the servant of the lender", is so incredibly true. The key to insulating yourself from an economic meltdown is to become as independent as possible, and as long as you are in debt, you simply are not independent. You don't want a horde of creditors chasing after you when things really start to get bad out there.
2 - Find New Sources Of Income: In 2010, there simply is not such a thing as job security. If you are dependent on a job ("just over broke") for 100% of your income, you are in a very bad position. There are thousands of different ways to make extra money. What you don't want to do is to have all of your eggs in one basket. One day when the economy melts down and you are out of a job are you going to be destitute or are you going to be okay?
3 - Reduce Your Expenses: Many Americans have left the rat race and have found ways to live on half or even on a quarter of what they were making previously. It is possible - if you are willing to reduce your expenses. In the future times are going to be tougher, so learn to start living with less today.
4 - Learn To Grow Your Own Food: Today the vast majority of Americans are completely dependent on being able to run down to the supermarket or to the local Wal-Mart to buy food. But what happens when the U.S. dollar declines dramatically in value and it costs ten bucks to buy a loaf of bread? If you learn to grow your own food (even if is just a small garden) you will be insulating yourself against rising food prices.
5 - Make Sure You Have A Reliable Water Supply: Water shortages are popping up all over the globe. Water is quickly becoming one of the "hottest" commodities out there. Even in the United States, water shortages have been making headline news recently. As we move into the future, it will be imperative for you and your family to have a reliable source of water. Some Americans have learned to collect rainwater and many others are using advanced technology such as atmospheric water generators to provide water for their families. But whatever you do, make sure that you are not caught without a decent source of water in the years ahead.
6 - Buy Land: This is a tough one, because prices are still quite high. However, as we have written previously, home prices are going to be declining over the coming months, and eventually there are going to be some really great deals out there. The truth is that you don't want to wait too long either, because once Helicopter Ben Bernanke's inflationary policies totally tank the value of the U.S. dollar, the price of everything (including land) is going to go sky high. If you are able to buy land when prices are low, that is going to insulate you a great deal from the rising housing costs that will occur when the U.S dollar does totally go into the tank.
7 - Get Off The Grid: An increasing number of Americans are going "off the grid". Essentially what that means is that they are attempting to operate independently of the utility companies. In particular, going "off the grid" will enable you to insulate yourself from the rapidly rising energy prices that we are going to see in the future. If you are able to produce energy for your own home, you won't be freaking out like your neighbors are when electricity prices triple someday.
8 - Store Non-Perishable Supplies: Non-perishable supplies are one investment that is sure to go up in value. Not that you would resell them. You store up non-perishable supplies because you are going to need them someday. So why not stock up on the things that you are going to need now before they double or triple in price in the future? Your money is not ever going to stretch any farther than it does right now.
9 - Develop Stronger Relationships: Americans have become very insular creatures. We act like we don't need anyone or anything. But the truth is that as the economy melts down we are going to need each other. It is those that are developing strong relationships with family and friends right now that will be able to depend on them when times get hard.
10 - Get Educated And Stay Flexible: When times are stable, it is not that important to be informed because things pretty much stay the same. However, when things are rapidly changing it is imperative to get educated and to stay informed so that you will know what to do. The times ahead are going to require us all to be very flexible, and it is those who are willing to adapt that will do the best when things get tough.
If there was ever a time in the modern era to start growing food--it is NOW. The world-wide financial melt-down is destined to bring with it hyperinflation and food shortages. Aquaponics is our answer. Aquaponics is a hybrid technique combining the best of aqua-culture (growing fish) and hydroponics (growing veggies without soil), and it’s completely organic because the fish waste is your natural fertilizer and that means no pesticides. Aquaponics USA is dedicated to sharing information, developing products and bringing awareness of this life sustaining technology to every American home because it’s time Americans declare their Food Independence.

Question #9:
how are these 3 different openings of the same story?
which one do you like best? can you please rate each from 1-10 (10 being best)1)There is a section of my house that is framed-by a wooden frame. It is neither ornately carved or of a unique design, but the ebony wood was striking against the pale crème walls.
The frame is not big; it is only three feet tall and one foot wide.
My friends would reach their fingers out, tentatively, looking around all the while, to touch what the frame holds. On their faces would be a sort of frustrated curiosity.
When they met no glass, their hands would lurch forward, like when one trips while walking down a staircase, when their feet do not find another stair but smooth pavement. They must have expected whatever enticed them, to be protected.
On a slightly yellowed piece of paper, that makes one think of antique, are two hands traced in pencil. One is slightly larger than the other, and the lines are strangely wobbly as if drawn by a child just learning to hold a pencil.
2) It was a windy day, and when people ventured outside with their umbrellas, they were deterred as gusts of wind would flip their umbrellas inside out, and raise their coats almost vertically in the air which would whip in the air with a sharp, Crack!.
Taxi drivers looked at their cabs with fearful eyes; they could already see that today was a day when driving would be a menace, not a necessity; the chance of totaling their car didn’t seem quite as low as yesterday. The road looked like a long black slippery snake, slick as ice and the clay used to fill potholes and dirt from gardens would travel to down slopes to the middle of the street.
But the air smelled sweet, like freshly cut grass; it was a crisp, faint scent. It made one want to inhale deeply, as if to store this fragrance inside to keep. The rain called for hot water bottles, hot chocolate, and smiles. Secrets, dreams, art, poetry, children, and spring. It felt as if someone was brushing the dust away from a forgotten book or wiping a bad slate clean. And then, you remember that even wonderful illusions, short moments, like these have to end, and after it is over, its memory leaves a painful, sweet taste in your mouth, reminding you that it didn’t change anything.
3)The summer Marlowe volunteered at the Larson General Hospital, was when she had been thirteen for a few months. Her school required all eighth graders to volunteer at the library, hospital, or act as a tutor so that when they leave high school and allowed to get work permits, they would have an idea what to expect.
Marlowe’s home was only a few blocks away from the hospital; a ten or fifteen minutes would be a sufficient time for her to leave the house and arrive at the hospital.
Many of her friends, had volunteered at the hospital because it seemed to be the easiest job to do. In their minds, they were wearing crisp white uniforms and delivered flowers to patient rooms and organized magazines. This seemed favorable to teaching quadratic equations and learning the Dewey Decimal System, which was inevitable as a tutor or a library assistant.
So, when she finally signed her name on the volunteer slips, and filled in the box labeled Hospital, most of the spots were filled. And when Marlowe went to the Larson General Hospital, or the LGH as the volunteers called it, there was only one spot left, and that was..,Companion.
A companion was a person that stayed with some of the more lonely patients, and talked to them. Usually no one would want to be a companion, because they usually did not volunteer to help, but because they had to.
Question #10:
Some different methods for solving a quadratic?
I need some help with some math problems that I don't get. If you could explain to me how each problem is solved, I'd much appreciate the help! Thanks in advance =)This one I'm just having trouble factoring. I need to solve for x:
8x^2-6x-9
This one I haven't much idea what I'm supposed to do at all:
There's a rectangular garden. Perimeter is 300ft, area is 3600 ft^2. Find the length and the width. I know (length)(width)=3600, and 2(length) + 2(width)=300, but I'm not sure where to go from there, everything I've tried has given me weird answers like length=0. O.o HALP?
Question #11:

fence to keep these pests out? will a fine net do the trick? or has anybody got a better idea? please.Question #13:
Do you think God is just an insecure 14 year old girl?
I mean it says he created humans so they could want him, "I want you to want me." He put a forbidden tree in the middle of a garden. If he didn't want anyone to eat from that tree why put it there? It seems he wanted people to listen to him and never question him. This idea repeats a lot in the bible. Why can't we question him? Why can't we think for ourselves? Why is God so jealous? And if he is all powerful why doesn't he just get rid of the devil?@just a simple hobbit I am looking for the common opinion so it is a survey
@Baptized In Fire people who think they know exactly everything pisses me off. You should have doubt. I am not part of an organized religion, but i'm not going to say anyone is wrong because I don't know. Also you don't know because I don't know, and you do not posses mental capabilities I do not.
@MJ Your comment was noted. i'm glad you thought deeply on the issue. you are an extremely intelligent individual with a great sense of humor.
Question #14:
healthy dinner ideas for teenagers?
I'm 14 and I'm not trying to loose weight. My family and I eat dinner together and my family aren't really the healthiest eaters. THey put like a ton of oil in everything, and they refuse to buy brown rice or whole wheat spaghetti or penne pasta because they say they have to compromise between taste and health. Well anyway. I offered to help cook some meals to make them healthier. Are these healthy dinner ideas? Do you have any more.Dinner #1: white rice(about a quarter of the plate) tomato sauce, fresh fish and garden salad (half of the plate.)
Dinner #2: 2 small baked potatoes, a chicken drum stick and corn and peas.
DInner #3: spaghetti (about quarter of the plate) with this turkey sauce (it's kind of hard to explain it's my mom's recipe) and some cooked broccolli, carrots, and cauliflower (about half the plate)
Are these healthy dinners and serving sizes? DO you have more ideas (Not too hard, I'm only 14)
Question #15:
Where in North Wales Can I buy Salvia divinorum Clippings?
My recent hobby is growing things. But the only way I stay interested and keep them alive, is if they have a novelty or are particularly hard to grow. For this reason I'm currently growing mushrooms.
Although I have no interest in its supposed effects, I like the idea of having something that may be a little naughty as a novelty.
I WISH TO FIND A GARDEN CENTRE (or other) IN NORTH WALES
THAT COULD ORDER SOME CLIPPINGS.
(please no drug replies)
Question #16:
Teen Business/Investing questions/problems?
Ok I am 17 years old, I just graduated from High School. Ever since I was about 11 I have been interested in business and investing. I tired many small business's and all have failed so far. When I was 11 I tired a Lemonade stand and all that happened was the Women in my neighborhood would smile and say thats cute, but never buy anything. I also tried an online skate shop when I was 15, I borrowed money from my parents to buy decks, boards and everything and it failed.(I still owe my parents money, it took a huge hit on them). I tired a lawn mowing service and I only had 2 people hire me. Everyone else already had professional service(which does, edging, trimming, takes care of plants, does garden work). So far none of my business's worked out. Now I graduated from high school, I can't even get a Minimum wage job(I even showed up to Mickey D's in a dress shirt and pants). I only have $200 to start a business, I can't afford collage and I have know Idea what to do? Is their a small business I can start for $200-$400?Also is their anyway to invest the money?

Question #19:
Ideas on breeds for us?
It won't be for a few more years yet but we want to add another four-legged member to the family when my baby gets to around 3-6 years old, depending on the money situation and if we can handle it. We already have a Chinese Crested hairless (Low energy, currently 8 months), a Border Collie (Low energy, 7 years) and a JRT x Pug x Beagle x Border Terrier (Medium energy, 1.3 years). We have a fairly big house, large garden and the dogs will be getting a walk in the morning (2 when I take the child to playschool, and all will get a run in between when the child isn't home and me going to work at about 10am. When I get back from work (4/5ish, sometimes earlier) the other two will get a walk to the childminder's or my mum/mother in law's (whoever has the child) to pick her up, unless it's too far, then I'll drive. They'll then get a run when my boyfriend's home (Either at 11am then he's home all day, 3pm then he's home all day, or he works 6pm til 10pm. Sometimes he works doubles, but I doubt he will when our child is born) on the field near our house. We're very energetic and they'll get taken out extra if I'm taking my little girl for a stroll, popping down the shop, etc.. They go most places with us. They're also left out in the garden with free run of the lounge and conservatory when we're out.
I want another Crested, but my fiance refuses haha. He wants a Husky or Border Collie puppy, but they're so high energy and I've heard of Huskys killing babies because they thought they were squeaky toys? (Correct me if this is the media again) Also please don't suggest the American Pit Bull Terrier as we're in the UK and sadly they're banned. If the American Staffordshire is legal in the UK we'd certainly look into them.
We also own birds and rats so a dog with a fairly low prey drive would be excellent. My fiance also doesn't want a small dog, I'm not bothered on size so long as they're fairly easy to train and aren't extremely nippy as pups. More unusual breeds would be appreciated - I've never seen the attraction in popular breeds such as Labs and Westies.
So, to sum it up:
Med - Low energy
Low-Med shedding
Unusual
Get along with kids or aren't known for having child aggression
Not small
Fairly easy to train
Low prey drive
Not a yappy/barky breed
thankyou! All suggestions will be looked into :)
After taking the dog breed selector on animal planet, are these breeds suitable?
Curly coated retriever
Saluki
Welsh springer spaniel
Pharoah Hound
Scottish Deerhound
Vizsla
Brittany
Bernese Mountain Dog
Greyhound
Akita
Whippet
Dalmatian
Irish Wolfhound
Rhodesian Ridgeback
Dobermann
Rottweiler
Great Dane
Australian Shepherd
Boxer
Weimeraner
Please don't say rescue - I'm not comfy with rescuing dogs and not being able to meet the parents.
Yes they are, but it's breeds we feel would fit in with us, despite our lifestyle. The Dobermann is higher energy but will get enough exercise. The Whippet is calmer but would still get walked a fair bit. etc :)
Not a Labradoodle - I had one as a kid and it nearly took my face off. I'm still nervous of Labs and Std. Poodles
sorry! i do know the pros of rescue but I was bit by a foster dog of ours and its put me off the idea
Question #20:
what to do about my family?
Okay well im not sure what to do tbh. I dont think my mum really cares about me. My family never get on and we can never go out together without there being fights and such. My brother is a complete vile thing who enjoys making me get really low and feel terrible. it was once so bad my neighbours told him to leave me alone. My mum often gets upset and crys-she told me she would be happy if i went into care and she lived on her own. that really hurt. when i was little she use to drag me up the stairs by my hair and it hurt so bad. also when we were on holiday she hit my head against the wall and i got a cut on the side of my head (not too bad-but it did bleed) I do lose my temper alot and i thought that might be the problem but i always notice i have perfect reasons to be upset and angry. one day when my parents were at work i was left alone with my brother. he was telling me how he was going to beat me down to the floor and kill me. and he was hitting everything just because i was in the house and he wanted to be on his own with friends. and no he has not got problems. i was really scared so i went into the garden so he wouldent do anything (the neighbours would of seen) everytime i tell my mum what he does to me. she thinks he would never do such a thing. me and my brother have 5 years diff. hes hit my legs and called me a cunt in my face. my dads not really around because of work. i had self harm cuts and my mum saw-so that didnt go down well at all. I cant talk to new people very well and i always walk with my head down and i find it really hard going past people on streets. the way i escape is listen to my music its rock, ect. my mum always tells the family how bad i am. i have done bad things, like breaking my wardrobe door and hitting my wall till my hand went a weird colour but i was angry at my mum/brother. my mum can be really scary at times I always panic when she gets angry cause i have no idea what horrid thing she might do. I never had loads of friends. no one ever really likes me. i have a great bestfriend and i love going to her house it gives me a chance to get away from them all. sometimes i question everything. i have high levels and stuff so theres no problem with learning. but i have walked out of class alot because of the girls at my school. alot of them are very horrible. when i walk home from classes I just cant look at anyone and i rush to get past people. i dont know why. i thought there might be something wrong with me but people convinced me there wasent except for my mum she thinks im fucked in the head and she always seems she would be more happy with my brother. ive ran away twice. theres so much crap in my life. i just want a mum that will come home and hug me not have a go at me for something stupid. all my other cousins are really happy in life and i feel so alone. no one understands they just think its normal and will pass. but it never has. I download all my music because if my mum heard it she would say no straight away. she gets pissy at me cause i dont wear bright pink girly clothes. she can be very nice at times but thats very rare. ive had people talk to me at school, but it didnt really help that much. when i told my mum i think she was worried i was telling them everything and she was going to call them. but luckily she didnt. that would of gone downhill and got messy. i think about asking someone to leave but its the small things that i would miss. argh i dont know what to do. i try and try to just forget everything but it happens so much. i get bullied alot so when i come home its even worse when things kick off my mum doesent believe me about the girls in my classes so i have to keep that quiet and the teachers dont really care to be honest. no one says to me random that they love me or give me a hug. let me die and be in peace for once please?Nice answers please.
Peace.
